OK, here we go.
No, full-auto AUGs can't be imported for sale here except for government/LE and certified dealers. Basically, the NFA (National Firearms Act) says "machine guns, silencers, and aow's (Any Other Weapon= short barreled rifles/shotguns, etc) are bad, umkay?" It is a giant overly complex mess, but the short and skinny is if you want an automatic the weapon had to be made and registered with BATFE before 1986 and you have to go through an extensive background check capped of with a $200 tax at the end of the 5-6 month process. I'm 99% sure you can't bring an FA into the country even if you owned it elsewhere too. There are FA AUGs out there, but they are running in the $15,000 range (actually not bad when you consider a crappy M16a1 is running around $13,000). Finally the big kick in the pants, some states don't allow NFA weapons, and even the ones that do have weird hokey rules (Washington state I'm looking at you, so I can own a suppressor but not use it?!).
As for the multicaliber AUG, yes, Steyr made a 9mm model, the advantages are lower recoil, smaller sound signature, reduced risk of body armor penetration. The trade off is a ballisticly inferior round.
As for parts/accessories, check with Pete at PJS. Steyr Arms USA are great to deal with but have a very limited stock of parts.
Finally, FOR THE LOVE OF GOD DON'T GO AROUND THE LAW!!! I know every idiot on the face of the earth says "I made my gun FA, what can they do?" How about put you in jail 10 years and fine you $10,000?! BATFE has no mercy and neither do the courts, do it the right way or don't do it.
